Ruben Caney's grandfather rolled in Pinar del Río before the family left in 1961. The factory in Estelí is small enough that Ruben still checks bunches himself on Fridays, and stubborn enough that they age their own filler rather than buying it finished.
We spent four days there in February arguing about wrappers. The blend we landed on is a Habano oscuro over Nicaraguan ligero from a single farm south of town — the field Ruben's been quietly holding back for six years.
Production is capped at 1,800 boxes across the three sizes. Members get first allocation, two boxes per membership.

Made with Tabacalera Ortez. 900 boxes, gone in nine days. A Connecticut broadleaf that got darker and sweeter the longer people sat on it — the ones who kept a box are the ones smiling now.
Next year's partner is chosen in January. Members hear first, and members get asked.
